A week after the starters were determined, the reserves for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game were finally selected. Among them, five players were selected to play in the annual event for the first time.

Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng, center Roy Hibbert from the Indiana Pacers and Philadelphia 76ers forward-guard Andre Iguodala are on their way to their 1st All-Star game appearance as part of the Eastern Conference All-Star reserves.

Completing the East squad reserves line-up are guards Joe Johnson of Atlanta Hawks, Deron Williams from the New Jersey Nets, Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh and Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce.

Update: Joe Johnson will miss the All-Star game because of tendinitis in his left knee. Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo he has been named by NBA Commissioner David Stern to replace the injured Johnson in the roster.

The two other first-timers selected were forward LaMarcus Aldridge from Portland Trail Blazers and Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol who will play as part of the Western Conference All-Star reserves.

Also included in the West squad reserves line-up are forward-center Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves, two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash from Phoenix Suns, 2007 NBA MVP and 2011 Finals MVP Dirk Nowitzki from Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder’s guard Russell Westbrook, and San Antonio Spurs’ guard Tony Parker.
