Strikeforce: Melendez vs Masvidal MMA Event

This event’s main bout was briefly in question when UFC President Dana White revealed to reporters that he’s working to bring Gilbert Melendez into the UFC “ASAP” with the possibility of Gilbert entering with an immediate shot at the UFC title belt, but the match will go on as planned.

The Strikeforce: Melendez vs Masvidal live stream will be available on Showtime on December 17, 2011. You can also watch it live at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California, USA.

Gilbert Melendez successfully defended his Strikeforce Lightweight title after a 1st Round TKO win over Tatsuya Kawajiri in rematch last April 2011 while Jorge Masvidal is on a two-fight win streak after a Unanimous Decision win over KJ Noons last June.

The Main Card features one championship bout.

On the Gilbert Melendez vs Jorge Masvidal fight video, Gilbert defends his Strikeforce Lightweight championship belt for the third time against Jorge.

While on the Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos vs Hiroko Yamanaka fight video, Cristiane defends her Strikeforce Women’s Featherweight championship belt against Hiroko.

Also on the main bouts are; Gegard Mousasi vs Ovince St. Preux and KJ Noons vs Billy Evangelista.

Five preliminary matches are also included in this event.
