Mexican boxing star Abner Mares is going to defend his world title belt for the first time.

With a undefeated record, he is going to face former bantamweight champ Joseph Agbeko in a rematch.

The boxing bantamweight title Abner Mares vs Joseph Agbeko 2 fight video is set to take place on December 3, 2011 live at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA and on Showtime Championship Boxing.

Abner Mares from Mexico, the #3 Bantamweight as ranked by The Ring has a current professional record of a perfect 22 wins (13 by way of knock out) and 1 draw. He’s the current WBC Silver and IBF World Bantamweight Champion.

While Joseph Agbeko, “King Kong”, from Ghana, the #4 Bantamweight as ranked by the same magazine has a current professional record of 28 wins (22 by way of knock out) and 3 losses. He’s a former IBF World Bantamweight Champion.

Both boxers’ last fight was against each other wherein Joseph won over Abner by Majority Decision on Agbeko vs Mares, August 2011.

The Mares vs Agbeko 2 video will be a bantamweight division title match with Abner’s WBC and IBF belts at stake.

Their first meeting ended up in a controversial majority decision victory for Abner.

During that bout, Abner delivered numerous low blows on Joseph with the referee not penalizing him with point deductions for any of the blows throughout the match.

The most infamous of these blows came during round eleven of the fight wherein a low blow from Mares landed on Agbeko’s cup, causing the latter to drop. While the low blow was clearly visible to everyone, the referee ruled it as a knockdown.

All in all, there were two knockdowns called on Joseph. The first that came in the first round could have been called a slip but a punch was landed. The second that occurred in the eleventh was the result of what was definitely a low blow. It’s possible that without the knockdown Mares would not have won the fight.

Their much-anticipated rematch will finally happen on December to determine the true bantamweight champ.
