24/7: Pacquiao-Marquez Episode 2

Manny Pacquiao started his training for his third bout against Juan Manuel Marquez at Shape-Up Boxing Gym located in the official summer capital of the Philippines, Baguio City on the previous episode 1 of 24/7 Pacquiao-Marquez.

Manny’s trainer Freddie Roach and, strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza said that the eight-division world champion has a different edge in this training camp as he started earlier than scheduled.

Pacquiao sparred with lightweight contender Jorge Linares who then has a title fight in just a few days. In total, Jorge had thirty rounds of sparring sessions with the pound-for-pound king.

Meanwhile, as part of entertainment in Manny’s camp, two of his subordinates laced up their gloves for a short boxing match.

On the other hand, Juan Manuel Marquez currently trains at the Romanza Boxing Gym located in Mexico City. His main team comprises of Nacho Beristain as his trainer, Raul De Anda as assistant and Jose Luis Zaragoza does mitts with him.

Both head coaches Beristain and Roach gave their view about the previous two matches that their fighters underwent. The first Pacquiao vs Marquez held in 2004 ended up in a Split Draw while Manny won the Pacquiao vs Marquez 2 in 2008 by a very close Split Decision.

Manny’s training in Baguio lasted for three weeks, he then flew to California and resumed his training at the Wild Card Boxing Gym. He also attended the Jorge Linares versus Antonio DeMarco match but unfortunately, Linares lost. He comforted Jorge after the bout.

Alez Ariza’s crucial role for Manny’s successful move to higher weight classes in the last three years was also narrated making him an indispensable member of Team Pacquiao along side Roach and close friend, Buboy Fernandez.

On the other camp, Team Marquez gave a brief description of Nacho Beristain as a trainer. Nacho also explained the origin of the name of his boxing gym that he opened nineteen years ago.

Marquez spars with south paws in preparation for his upcoming bout. He also served as a boxing analyst for the ESPN Deportes show “Golpe a Golpe” (Blow by Blow) with Jorge Eduardo Sanchez.

Coming up on October 29, 2011 is the 24/7: Pacquiao-Marquez Episode 2 to be aired live at 10 PM ET / PT on HBO.

On part 2, both training camps intensify more and more as they look for an edge in their third showdown.

As Juan Manuel will only fight as a welterweight for the second time, his crew try to find ways to adjust his techniques.

While Freddie Roach and Manny look for a few new sparring partners that can emulate his opponent’s style.
