Both boxers’ training camps were introduced on the previous episode 1 of 24/7 Mayweather-Ortiz.
Victor Ortiz‘s camp comprises of three vital persons. First, his head trainer Danny Garcia, son of renowned trainer Eduardo Garcia and brother of another boxing coach, Roberto.
Secondly, his assistant trainer Mario Aguinega and the third critical member of his team is his younger brother Temo Ortiz.
While for Floyd Mayweather, Jr., among the significant persons in his camps are; his uncle and trainer Roger who ranks “scouting the opponents” low in his to-do list, his father Floyd Sr. who’s relationship with his son has been strain since Roger took over as the boxer’s trainer, his long-time friend rapper 50 Cent and his fiancee, Miss Jackson.
Also narrated on that premiere was Victor and Temo’s early life wherein they were abandoned by their parents.
In the last four years, Ortiz has his highs and lows in his boxing career. He was once considered as boxing’s top prospect but in the June 2009 bout against Marcos Maidana, his rise was derailed when he lost by Technical Knock Out.
He then spent the next two years rebuilding his reputation then finally, he captured his first world title when he defeated Andre Berto by Unanimous Decision last April, even though he was a 4-1 underdog.
Mayweather’s last fight was sixteen months ago when he defeated Shane Mosley by Unanimous Decision in May 2010. Any impact the hiatus has had on his skills will soon be determined on fight night, but the swagger meanwhile has been untouched.
Then on the last part of that installment, Floyd Jr. and Sr. had a very heated argument.
Coming up on September 3, 2011 is the 24/7: Mayweather-Ortiz Episode 2 to be aired live at 10 PM ET / PT on HBO.
On part 2, as training camps heat up, Victor’s crew gets a visit from a living legend, Oscar De La Hoya.
Then, being trusted into the national spotlight hasn’t distracted the 24-year old Ortiz as he continues into his grueling journey.
