The Dallas Mavericks finally took the series lead at 3 games to 2 after defeating the Miami Heat in the pivotal game 5 of the 2011 NBA Finals.
The game was close and both teams went back and forth in terms of lead changes but the outcome was decided by the Mavs’ clutch shooting in the final minutes.
With Miami leading by only three points at 100-97, Dallas’ Jason Terry made a three-point basket to tie the game with 3:23 left. Then, the Mavericks went on a 12-3 run to grab the victory.
Although the Mavs only grabbed 26 boards in comparable to the Heat’s 36, they shot well beyond the arc, 68.4 percent, as they made 13-out-of-19 3-pointers. X-factor J.J. Barea led them making 4-of-5, Terry went 3-for-5 and Jason Kidd made 3-of-5.
Dirk Nowitzki led the game in scoring with 29 points

The Mavericks defeated the Heat with a final score of 105-95. Dallas wins the series, 4-2 to become the 2011 NBA Champions.
Jason Terry scored a game-high 27 points while Dirk Nowitzki added 21 with 11 rebounds, JJ Barea, 15, Shawn Marion, 12 and Jason Kidd, 9 with 8 assists.
On a losing effort, LeBron James scored a team-high 21points.
Nowitzki was awarded as the 2011 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player after leading the Mavs to win its first championship title in franchise history.
