Sergio Gabriel Martinez from Argentina is the number three pound-for-pound boxer in the world as rated by “The Ring”. He is a two-division world champion and currently holds The Ring Middleweight title.
The Argentinian boxing star is also known as “Maravilla” (Marvel). Martinez’s current professional boxing record stands at 48 wins (27 by way of knock out, KO), 2 losses and 2 draws.

Martinez won world titles in two different weight classes. He captured this feat by becoming world champion in divisions such as the Light Middleweight and Middleweight.
He had been undefeated in 16 out of his first 17 professional fights, the other one was a draw. He suffered his first loss when Antonio Margarito defeated him via 7th Round TKO in February 2000.
Since then, he amassed 28 straight victories in a span of over eight years including his dominating performance in October 2008 wherein he defeated Alex Bunema via 8th Round Referee Technical Decision to win the Interim WBC Super Welterweight title.
After that, he fought Kermit Cintron in February 2009 but the bout ended up in a shocking Majority Draw.
On May 21, 2009, WBC Super Welterweight Champion Vernon Forrest injured his rib that would leave him out of action indefinitely. Because of his inability to fight the interim title holder, he was stripped off his belt and Martinez was upgraded to full WBC title status.
Ten months after his controversial draw against Cintron, he moved up to the middleweight class and fought Paul Williams in a non-title match. Sergio suffered his second loss via a Majority Decision in a very exciting bout.
In April 2010, he fought WBC and WBO World Middleweight Champion Kelly Pavlik. Sergio won via Unanimous Decision on Pavlik vs Martinez to capture his second world title in as many weight classes.
Seven months after that, he got the chance to avenge his loss to Williams and he did in a very strong way. Sergio successfully defended his WBC World Middleweight title belt on The Explosive Rematch: Martinez vs Williams 2 when he knocked Paul out cold in the second round with a vicious left hook.
On March 2011, he knocked out the previously undefeated Ukrainian Sergiy Dzinziruk in the eight round of Martinez vs Dzinziruk to win the vacant WBC Diamond Middleweight title belt.
Then, he defeated another previously undefeated boxer, EBU MIddleweight Champion Darren Barker, almost seven months after his previous bout. He won by 11th Round KO on Martinez vs Barker.
