Yao Ming returned to action for the Rockets this season after missing last year with a foot injury.
The Lakers defeated the Rockets with a final score of 112-110. Pau Gasol got a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds with 2 assists while Kobe Bryant added 27, Shannon Brown, 16, Lamar Odom, 14 points with 10 rebounds and Steve Blake, 10 points including the winning three.
