Finally, the “Diesel” made his decision on where he will play for the upcoming NBA season and probably will be his last team until he retires.

Shaquille O’Neal will join the Boston Celtics as announced on the Celtics’ official website. He also has a new nickname, “The Big Shamrock”, as indicated there.

“I am honored to be joining the Celtics,” said O’Neal. “I have played against Paul, Ray, Kevin, Rajon, and Jermaine for many years and it will be great to be able to call them my teammates. I cannot wait to get to Boston to get started in pursuit of another championship.”

Shaq was among the free agents in probably the biggest free agency in basketball history led by his former teammate on Cleveland Cavaliers, LeBron James who joins the Miami Heat along with Chris Bosh teaming up with Dwyane Wade to form a new Big Three, Wade was also a former teammate by Shaq.

The Boston Celtics now have a Super Starting Five (if ever Shaq is gonna start)composed of four over 30-year old veteran All-Stars; Shaquille O’Neal at center, Kevin Garnett at power forward, Paul Pierce at small forward, Ray Allen at shooting guard and the young All-Star point guard, Rajon Rondo.

Shaq also belongs to the 50 Greatest Players in NBA history awarded in 1996 where he was the youngest member among the group at the age of 24.

A fifth NBA Championship ring is his target as he is currently tied with fellow superstar Tim Duncan. Reigning NBA Finals MVP, Kobe Bryant already got his fifth ring when the Lakers beat the Celtics in 2010 NBA Finals.

Recently, Shaq guested on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and he’s also busy on his reality television show, Shaq Vs Season 2.

With Shaquille O’Neal joining the Boston Celtics, can he help them win their 18th NBA title?
