The defending 2006 FIBA World Champions, the Spain national basketball team is back on the this year’s tournament. Can they get the World Championship title again?
The 16th FIBA World Championship will be held at Turkey.
Most of the 24 teams that will play in this year’s tourney were determined by securing their places in continental qualifying tournaments (three from Africa, three from Asia, two from Oceania, four from the Americas, and six from Europe) and FIBA invited four “wild card” teams to fill out the twenty-four team field.
While Turkey automatically qualified as the host country of the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the USA also received an automatic berth for winning the 2008 Olympic Men’s Basketball Tournament.

Participating basketball teams will undergo exciting rounds, Preliminary, Eight-Finals, Quarter Finals, Semi-Finals and Finals. Preliminary round begins on Saturday, August 28, 2010.
