The defending World Champions, Spain national basketball team, will try their best to capture this year’s title in the world basketball tournament for men’s national teams that is held quadrennially by the International Basketball Federation also known as FIBA.
The 2010 FIBA World Championship live stream is scheduled to happen starting on August 28 up to September 12, 2010. Watch it live at the official venues in Turkey.
For the third time since 1986, the premier international basketball tournament will have 24 competing nations, an increase from 16. As a result, the groups are each playing in different cities, with the knockout round being hosted by Istanbul.
Turkey automatically qualified as the host country while the USA also received an automatic berth for winning the 2008 Olympic Men’s Basketball Tournament.
For most of other teams, they secured their places in continental qualifying tournaments (three from Africa, three from Asia, two from Oceania, four from the Americas, and six from Europe). Also, FIBA invited four “wild card” teams to fill out the twenty-four team field. Here is the seeding;
- Group A – Argentina, Serbia, Australia, Germany, Angola, Jordan
- Group B – USA, Slovenia, Brazil, Croatia, Iran, Tunisia
- Group C – Greece, Turkey, Puerto Rico, Russia, China, Côte d’Ivoire
- Group D – Spain, France, Canada, Lithuania, New Zealand, Lebanon
