2010 FIBA World Championship Bracket

Twenty-four teams, only one goal and that’s to be the 2010 FIBA World Championship Champions!

Turkey is the host country of this year’s FIBA World Championship.

Since 1986, this is the third time that the premier international basketball tournament will have 24 competing nations, an increase from 16. As a result, the groups are each playing in different cities, with the knockout round being hosted by Istanbul.

Most of the 24 participating teams that will play this year were determined by securing their places in continental qualifying tournaments (three from Africa, three from Asia, two from Oceania, four from the Americas, and six from Europe) while FIBA invited four “wild card” teams to fill out the twenty-four team field.

Also, Turkey automatically qualified as the host country while the USA also received an automatic berth for winning the 2008 Olympic Men’s Basketball Tournament.
