Amar’e Stoudemire recently made a bold statement after his meeting with New York Knicks owner Jim Dolan that indicated the progress of his 2010 free agency status.
He said, “The Knicks are back.”
The Phoenix Suns free agent star, Amar’e Stoudemire, have agreed to the New York Knicks offer. A five-year contract that’s expected to worth around $100 million according to media sources. He can’t officially sign the deal until Thursday.
Trade rumors have already circulated his career for the last two years. Despite this, Stoudemire performed on his All-Star level and helped the Suns throughout the 2010 NBA Playoffs. The Suns beat Blazers in First Round, Suns beat Spurs in the Conference Semifinals but unfortunately, Suns lost to LA Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
After he and the team that drafted him in 2002 as the 9th overall pick could not reach an agreement on a new deal, Amar’e Stoudemire and the Phoenix Suns both made their moves this offseason.
The New York Knicks got one of the major free agents available this offseason, can the team get another big one to play along with Amar’e? We will see.
