After his first career loss in the hands of Antonio Margarito and lost his WBA belt, he bounced back and captured the vacant WBO World Welterweight title over Michael Jennings then successfully defended it when he beat Joshua Clottey via Split Decision, June 2009.

On the Pacquiao vs Cotto video, Pacquiao dominated Cotto round after round using his hand speed, quick footwork and power punches from every angle. He knocked down Cotto in rounds three and four, and as the match progressed, Miguel’s face turned into a bloody mess.
Later on the twelfth round, the referee stopped the fight to prevent further beating on Miguel Angel Cotto.
Manny Pacquiao (50-3-2) defeated Miguel Cotto (34-2-0) via 12th Round Technical Knock Out (TKO) in 55 seconds and became the WBO World Welterweight Champion. It’s his 7th world title in seven weight divisions, a mythical feat that no other boxer currently holds.
Pacquiao was also awarded the first ever WBC Diamond belt.
