Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) by Shakira and Freshlyground

The FIFA World Cup for 2010 is set to happen in South Africa from June 11 up to July 11.

For that major month-long event, the official 2010 FIFA World Cup song is entitled “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” by Shakira featuring South African group, Freshlyground.

Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) features Afro-Colombian instrumentation and Southern African guitar beats as tribute to African music, and its track based on the lyrics of the 1986 Cameroonian hit song Zangaléwa. This song will also be included in the “Listen Up! The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album”.

Shakira and the Freshlyground will perform the song at the closing ceremony before the 2010 FIFA World Cup Final on July 11 in Johannesburg Soccer City Stadium.
