The Butler Bulldogs vs Duke Blue Devils 2010 National Championship game is set to take place on April 5, 2010 9:21PM ET at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.
Both teams advanced to the 2010 NCAA National finals by beating their 2010 NCAA Final Four opponents.
Butler beat Michigan State to make it this far. This is Butler’s first NCAA National Championship Finals appearance. Can Gordon Hayward continue his great contribution on this game like in the past rounds?
On the other hand, Duke beat West Virginia for a chance to get a fourth NCAA title. The Blue Devils are the only #1 seed to make it to the Final Four. Duke Blue Devils beat Butler Bulldogs with a final score of 61-59 to capture their fourth NCAA national title.
This is Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski’s first championship since 2001 and the fourth overall. “Coach K” tied with Adolph Rupp for second place on the all-time list.
It was a very thrilling 2010 NCAA championship game wherein more than 70,000 fans watched it live at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. Neither team pulled far away in scoring, both teams have answered each other on every baskets made.
It was a game decided on final seconds. Duke lead by one, 60-59, with 13.6 seconds left. Butler inbounded the ball to Gordon Hayward who managed to shoot a fall away baseline jumper over 7-footer Brian Zoubek but clanged hard off the back rim with five seconds remaining.
Brian Zoubek rebounded Hayward’s miss with 3.6 seconds left and got fouled. He made a free throw extending Duke’s lead to two points and intentionally missing the second one. Gordon Hayward got the rebound, dribbled then shot a 3-point heave at half-court that almost went in.

Duke’s “Big Three” carried the scoring load for the team. Kyle Singler scored 19 points with 9 rebounds, Jon Scheyer had 15 points and Nolan Smith got 13.
