Way to go Street Children!
This March, street children from around the world gathered and competed in the first ever Street Child World Cup 2010 held in Durban, South Africa.
Teams from eight nations worked with international coaches and expressed themselves on a seven-day football (soccer in US) tournament to compete against each other.
And to pursue one goal, to become the Street Child World Cup Durban 2010 Champions team.
Here are the Street Child World Cup Durban 2010 Results:
Elimination Round
Group A
- United Kingdom – 2 wins over Philippines (4-2) and Brazil (4-0), 1 tied game with Tanzania (1-1)
- Tanzania – 2 wins over Brazil (2-0) and Philippines (2-0), 1 tied game with UK (1-1)
- Philippines – 1 win over Brazil (6-2), 2 losses from UK (2-4) and Tanzania (0-2)
- Brazil – 0 win, 3 losses from Tanzania (0-2), UK (0-4) and Philippines (2-6)
Group B
- Nicaragua – 3 wins over Ukraine (8-2), India (1-0) and South Africa (3-0), 0 loss
- India – 2 wins over South Africa (4-0) and Ukraine (8-0), 1 loss from Nicaragua (0-1)
- South Africa – 1 win over Ukraine (4-1), 2 losses from Nicaragua (0-3) and India (0-4)
- Ukraine – 0 win, 3 losses from Nicaragua (2-8), India (0-8) and South Africa (1-4)
From each group, the top two teams advanced to the Street Child World Cup Semi-Final Round while the bottom two teams competed for the Shield trophy which is a secondary award in the tournament.
Shield Semi-Final
- Philippines won over Ukraine (3-0)
- South Africa won over Brazil (2-1)
Cup Semi-Final
- Tanzania won over Nicaragua (3-0)
- India won over United Kingdom (3-1)
