The 2010 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament gets tougher and tighter after four hard-fought rounds.
From the 65 college basketball teams all over USA that started this tournament, four teams emerged victorious on their respective regions and are a few steps closer to their goal as the March Madness progresses.
The NCAA Final Four 2010 teams will compete on the basketball court to determine who’s the best among them all and be called as the 2010 NCAA Champions.
The four teams that will compete are West Virginia, Butler, Michigan State and Duke. Here’s some info about the NCAA Final Four 2010 teams.
West Virginia is the #2 seed in the East Region. This is Mountaineer’s first Final Four appearance since 1959 during Jerry West’s college days. West Virgina beat Kentucky, the #1 seed, to reach this point.
- Players to watch – Da’Sean Butler, Joe Mazzulla, Kevin Jones
- Coach – Bob Huggins
Butler is the #5 seed in the West Region. This is Bulldogs’ first time in the Final Four. They beat two giant seeded teams in their region to reach this far. Butler beat Syracuse, #1 seed, in Round of 16 and Butler beat Kansas State, #2 seed, in Round of 8.
- Players to watch – Gordon Hayward, Shelvin Mack, Ronald Nored, Willie Veasley
- Coach – Brad Stevens
Michigan State is the #5 seed in the Midwest Region. This is Spartans’ eight Final Four appearances and they were the runner-up last season. Michigan State already won two national titles – in 1979 during the Magic vs Bird championship rivalry and in 2000. MSU beat giant-killer Northern Iowa in Round of 16 and MSU beat Vols in a very close game of Round of 8.
- Players to watch – Durrell Summers, Raymar Morgan, Draymond Green, Korie Lucious
- Coach – Tom Izzo
Duke is the #1 seed in the South Region. Among the four regional top seeds, they’re the only team who reached the Final Four, their 15th time. The Blue Devils already won three national title – in 1991, 1992 and 2001. Duke beat Purdue and Duke beat Baylor to reach this spot.
- Players to watch – Nolan Smith, Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler
- Coach – Mike Krzyzewski
