It’s now time for the Second Round of the 2010 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament, only 32 out of 65 teams were left to compete.

The #1 seed on the Midwest Region and the #1 ranked overall team in the 2010 NCAA March Madness is the Kansas Jayhawks. In 2008, they beat Memphis for the championship but last year Kansas fell to Michigan State in the Sweet 16.

Kansas Jayhawks is up against #9 Northern Iowa Panthers on their Second Round match-up for the spot on the regional semifinals, the Sweet 16 of the March Madness.

The Kansas vs Northern Iowa game was a close one on the final minutes of the second half.

The Northern Iowa led almost the entire game but on the second half, Kansas managed to come close and and finally closed the gap to 63-62 with 42.8 seconds remaining in the game behind the Jayhawks relentless full-court pressure defense.

But they can’t stop UNI’s guard, Ali Farokhmanesh drained his fourth 3-point basket of the game with 34 seconds left that helped the Northern Iowa to retain it’s lead. Farokhmanesh scored 16 points in the entire game.

The Northern Iowa Panthers won the game over the Kansas Jayhawks with a final score of 69-67. The Panthers move on to the Sweet 16 for the first time.

The Northern Iowa Panthers is the first mid-major team to knock off a top seed in the 2010 NCAA tournament.
