Alfonso Gomez (22-4-2) defeated Jose Luis Castillo (60-10-1) via 6th Round Referee Technical Decision (RTD) to retain his WBC Continental Americas Welterweight title belt.

Gomez controlled the first four rounds using his faster hands, body punches and lateral movements. On the fifth, his combinations punished Castillo and after that round, Castillio’s corner told the referee the boxer has had enough, then the fight was stopped.

After the match, Castillo announced his retirement, stating, “I just found out tonight I don’t have it anymore, I want to apologize to the public and I am definitely announcing my retirement.”
