Humberto Soto beats David Diaz via UD on The Event

Former WBC World Lightweight Champion David Diaz will have a chance to get back his belt in a boxing match against WBC World Super Featherweight Champion, Humberto Soto.

The boxing lightweight title Humberto Soto vs David Diaz fight video undercard in “The Event” is set to take place on March 13, 2010 live at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, USA and on HBO PPV (Pay-Per-View).

Humberto Soto, “La Zorrita“, has a current professional record of 50 wins (32 by way of knock out, KO), 7 losses, 2 draws and 1 no contest. He’s the current WBC World Super Featherweight Champion and he just came off a 10th Round Unanimous Decision win over Jesus Chavez, December 2009.

While David Diaz, “Dangerous” from United States of America has a current professional record of 35 wins (17 by way of knock out, KO), 2 losses and 1 draw. He’s a former lightweight champion and his last fight was a Majority Decision win also over Jesus Chavez, September 2009.

The Soto vs Diaz video will be a lightweight division title match for the vacant WBC belt.

David Diaz lost his WBC World Lightweight belt to Manny Pacquiao via 9th Round KO last June 2008 that earned Pacquiao his 5th title in 5 weight divisions.

Now Diaz has a chance to get back his old WBC World Lightweight title after Edwin Valero vacated it.

Soto moved up in weight class last year and now has the chance to grab another title in different weight division.

Humberto Soto (51-7-2) defeated David Diaz (35-3-1) via Unanimous Decision (UD) to win the vacant WBC World Lightweight title belt.

Although Soto dropped Diaz in the 1st and 12th rounds, Diaz gave Soto a hard time throughout the match with his tenacity and activity.

The judges’ score cards were 115-111 and 117-109 (twice), all in favor of Soto.
